Fortnite Squad Roles and IGL Guide

Four players without roles is four solos sharing a Discord. Assign jobs before the bus, not after the second wipe.

The three jobs (trios / squads)

IGL (in-game leader) — drop, rotate, take or leave fights, console decisions in Override. One IGL. If two people call opposite drops, you already lost.

Fragger — first peek, first knock. Needs the shotgun and the confidence. Not the same person as the IGL unless you are a duo.

Support / overlay — heals, tags, crash pads, “they have a third west.” Carries extra utility. Gets less clip fame and more wins.

Duos: IGL + fragger, and you swap when someone is dead.

Loot rules that stop team-killing your economy

• Call shotgun / AR / heals / mobility when you land, not “I need everything.”
• If two people need a shotgun, the fragger gets the first one.
• Drop extra minis on the IGL if they rotate first.
• Do not steal a teammate’s box in Reload. That is how voice chats die.

Override-specific calls

Consoles are a team objective. The IGL says “we take it” or “we leave it.” Nobody solo-activates Extra Life in the open.

Sprites: do not all chase different arrows. One player grabs, others hold.

Comms that work

Say:

• Number of players and direction: “two, north ridge”
• HP if you traded: “I’m 50, minis”
• Whether you can take the fight: “we have height” / “we have no shotgun”

Do not say:

• A 15-second story about how they beamed you
• “He’s one” when you have not seen them in eight seconds
• Blame during the next rotate

If someone tilts, mute, finish the session, talk after. Ranked is not couple’s counseling.

Practice

• Two box fight games as a duo before ranked. Box fights
• One Reload game with the same drop every time. Reload
• Then BR. Do not IGL a stacked Override console on game one.
